***IN TRAINING!*** MOLLY – Labrador Retriever/Great Dane X – Female – 1 Y
Miss Molly has been available for adoption for quite some time through another rescue and she hasn’t had much luck finding a new home. The rescue asked if we would take her on and see if we could assist her in finding her forever home and our answer was … of course! Who could resist that mug huh?
This girl is incredibly sweet, super energetic and what we like to call a “diamond in the rough”. Very eager to learn and wants to please her human — Molly has the kind of energy that you wish you could bottle and sell but at the end of the day, she is happy to crash on the sofa with you and be a “tater”. Gets along great with other dogs but can be intimidating at first meeting as this girl is “all in” with whatever she does. Some dogs do not appreciate her exuberance and enthusiasm at that first meeting — Molly just figures everyone should love her right off the bat! She lives with a cat in her foster home and will try and play with her but backs off when the cat hisses or swats. She is not mean towards cats but would not do well with a timid cat that runs away from dogs because she would want to play chase. Does not do well with livestock … Molly has chased chickens and barks at horses. Also, due to her exuberance … toddlers are not going to fare well with this girl as she doesn’t seem to know where she is in “space & time” and will inadvertently knock children over. Older children would be best.
So when we call Molly a “diamond in the rough” it means that this sweet dog just needs someone to give her a chance. At first meeting … her vivaciousness seems to come across as “crazy” and she has had so many false starts with meet & greets and possible adoptions. What many don’t realize is that after time, Molly does settle in and can be remarkably calm. For someone willing to take the time to train and work with her and give her an outlet for her energy she will be a phenomenal dog but she is not a plug and play pup. Molly absolutely needs time, understanding, patience, and training. With this in mind, the Rimrock Humane Society will pay for an 8 week obedience course for Molly and her new owner (an $180 value) if they are willing to put in the time and the effort.
Molly is housebroke, spayed, up to date on shots and will be microchipped before adoption.
