LUCY – GERMAN SHEPHERD – FEMALE – 3 MONTHS
Lucy and her sister Emma (posted separately) are looking for families of their own.
This person will need to be patient, compassionate, and dog savvy as these girls have had a rough start to their little lives.
Lucy and Emma were rescued with two other littermates from a culvert in Pryor at approximately 1.5 months old. They were close to starvation and not at all familiar with human contact. They are healthy now, and have received their first vaccinations.
Luckily a woman with a huge heart rescued these precious pups and has been working with them to the best of her ability. There are four puppies however, and as they are very bonded to their siblings, they feed off of each other’s fears and training is difficult. Being so bonded to each other also means they do not see the need to listen to humans- “heck, we’ve got each other, who needs humans?!?!” Ha!
These puppies need one on one human attention- and maybe a calm canine sibling to learn from. They are young and impressionable so time is of the essence in getting these gals into permanent homes. They deserve to know all of the good things in life that human companionship can provide.
Lucy is the smallest of the pack and also the feistiest. She is protective of her food- likely due to survival instincts in her early months. She is very intelligent and is also the most reluctant of the group to accept touching and being petted. Progress is being made though and the girls are learning that people are not a threat, and food will always be available. Lots of one-on-one human contact is what this sweetheart needs.
None of these pups have shown any aggression towards humans even when obviously very afraid, or when getting their vaccinations
These girls don’t know any commands or how to walk on leash. They have learned to use a large straw filled litter box so it’s a start to potty training at least!
Lucy will be microchipped and will have received age-appropriate vaccinations at the time of her adoption. Her mandatory spay will also be covered in the fee paid for her adoption.
