***ADOPTED!!*** LARRY – White GSD – Male – 2-1/2 Y

Hi! I'm LARRY!

Hi! I’m LARRY!

Look at that smile! Larry’s owner got him as a puppy but was not well health wise so this handsome boy’s first two years of his life were spent basically just existing and keeping his owner company. All he knew was his house, yard and crate … no socializing at all except for whomever walked by the yard. Larry is pretty good at putting on a big show behind the fence but as soon as you walk into his area, then he is all happy to have you near.

Unfortunately, Larry’s owner passed away and was not discovered for 3 days. During that time, Larry was locked in his crate and was finally released by the Sheriff’s department after a neighbor called in a welfare check. 😭 When Larry came to us, he was frenetic — very scared and super nervous. He has spent a few months with our trainer decompressing so to speak and is doing much better now. Still fearful of new situations but after some time and sharing his life with a human who exudes confidence and strength, then settles in like “if it is good for you then it is good for me!”

Here is what we do know about Mr. Larry … he is housebroke and believe it or not, does not mind his crate. Being he has not been socialized with other dogs, he does not do first meetings well. He runs right up and gets in the dog’s face … lacking in social manners. Once he meets and settles in with a dog though, then he does fine. It is usually the dogs he is meeting who does not like his abrupt style. He doesn’t seem to know anything about cats … very curious and if allowed to run, we are sure he would chase. Doesn’t have a mean bone in his body so not sure if he would harm them or not.

Too many unknowns to say he would be good with kitties. Small children would be a definite “NO” as anybody or thing that moves quickly will freak him out — he will cower and cringe. Older kids who can respect his space and move slowly should be fine.

He is very true to form for his breed … very smart and super willing to learn new things. Adores attention and can be extremely affectionate — Larry is craving so much love and our trainer has been careful in doling it out as Larry wants to bond with someone and bond hard. We want that someone to be a new owner and NOT our trainer. We cannot break this boy’s heart again. 🙁 Larry loves to do things and be active but then can just lay at your feet and be super chill.

Larry is now neutered, up to date on shots, wormed, and microchipped. Whomever gets to call this boy “theirs” is going to be very lucky. Just as long as they understand his history and can go slow and work with him on some of his fears …. it is going to be an epic love story! We promise! 😍🥰
