🥰🥰🥰ADOPTED!!!🥰🥰🥰 COAL – Australian Cattle Dog X – Male – 2 Y
This boy’s story is a fairly common one with us ….. came to RHS as an unclaimed stray so we do not have much information about him. He has been living a very comfortable life with one of our loving foster homes so we could get a good read on his personality and attributes. Coal’s breed identifications were difficult to pin down — he is all black with a moderately curly coat, rear dew claws and weighing in just under 40 pounds. Being we were so curious about his breeding, we decided to do a canine DNA test and were stunned by one of the major breeds they had listed for him! He is primarily Australian Cattle Dog (which was no surprise) but the other major breed listed was Belgian Malinois. Ummm … huh? This was a big surprise for us and his foster family but … could DNA lie? We do have his DNA results if an interested party would like to take a look … just private message us and we will get you a copy!
Coal’s personality has a lot of herding characteristics particularly the cattle dog. He will nip your heels playfully when you walk at times, is high energy, loyal, obedient and just wants to please you. He gets along with his male and female doggie mates (there are 6). Coal also does well with the (2) indoor family cats until recently when one of the other dogs decided to go after one of the family cats and Coal did join in (along with several of the other dogs). When Coal first came into his foster home, he was a bit obsessed with the cats and wanted to chase them when they were running/playing but had moved through this stage. We would say he should do fine with cats if he is supervised — this incident has made us a bit wary about him and kitties. Coal is extremely sensitive to raised/stern voices tending to crouch low so there may be some abuse in his past. Coal is going to be a FANTASTIC companion and is the perfect size to take everywhere. He has a great recall which is a real plus. He can be a chewer so appropriate chew toys are a must. When Coal first came to us, he would pace in the house, get into the litter boxes, up on kitchen counters and trash cans but learned quickly this was not appropriate behavior and responds to a firm “No”. Coal likes to be in his crate for relaxation. After the (6) other dogs in the household go to their favorite spots, Coal will go stand by his crate to be let in. He loves to chew his bones and sleep in his kennel. When the weather is icky outside, he often does not want to come out of his warm bed to go out and will go to the very back of his crate. He also barks to let you know he needs to go out!! Coal is a loving companion who never takes his eyes off you only wanting to do what you want. He is SUPER smart and loving dog — so adorable with his super dark eyes which just seem to always be saying “How can I make you happy?”
Coal is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped.
