***ADOPTED!*** CHAMP – Dachshund X – Male – 10 Y

Hi! I'm CHAMP!

Hi! I’m CHAMP!

Due to a very sad situation involving a cat and three dogs from this household, Champ is now looking for a new forever home. He has been with this family since a pup and seems to be a little tentative when meeting new people and dogs which we totally understand. Moving slow and consistently with this boy is definitely the way to easily win his heart. The owner said that there were times when meeting new dogs, Champ would show his teeth but never growled or bit anyone.

Champ weighs about 21 lbs. and seems to be a Doxie mix — with what we are not sure but he does not have a long snout like most Doxies. Due to his age, he has some arthritis in his ankles and elbows but his owners were giving him some natural supplements to help with his stiff joints. He did live in a home with two other dogs but warms up slowly to new dogs. NOT GOOD WITH CATS! He was raised with children but we feel that new children he does not know should be older and not toddlers. Champ is wonderfully housebroke and crate trained – he spends his nights in his kennel. He knows the commands “sit”, “stay”, “rollover”, and when he sees his owner close his fist, that means “quiet”. Yes, Champ is a bit of a barker — especially if he is in his kennel and wants out! He loves going for walks and gets super excited when he sees his leash. He loves his toys but will rip up stuffed toys .. it his favorite game … find the squeaker!

Champ is neutered, up to date on shots, just had a complete dental (with a few extractions) and is now microchipped as well.
