PUNA – DSH Black & White Tuxedo – Female 1-1/2Y

Hi! I'm PUNA!

Hi! I’m PUNA!

Puna’s family abandoned her almost a year ago, so the neighbor’s tell us. Moved away and kicked her out the door — left to fend for herself and her several batches of kittens. Cats can easily revert back to being wild and Puna was starting to move toward that end. In order to catch her and bring her back into the safety of a loving home, we had to live trap her to rescue her. It was amazing to watch Puna come out of the live trap and start to welcome our loving rubs and ear scratches. You could almost see the light bulb go off like “Oh yeah, I remember this – this was GREAT!”

Puna means “spring” in Hawaiian and we thought that was an apropos name for a sweet girl who is now getting a “fresh start”. Puna is currently living as a clinic cat at our local veterinarian until she can find her forever home. It has been fun to watch her blossom and come out of her shell. Plus she is putting on some very much needed weight as she was very thin. Puna is a very tiny kitty – only weighing in at 6 lbs so she is almost like a kitten in appearance; we believe she will always be a petite, tiny cat.!”

There is another cat that is also roaming the clinic and when she saw him, she ran to him doing soft little squeaks and seemed so happy to see another kitty so we think she will do fine with other cats. We are not sure about dogs at this time. Whomever adopts her, will just have to go slow and be patient as she re-adjusts to being a loved house cat once again. She has made leaps and bounds just in a weeks time! We think her markings are adorable with her little white boots, white bib and she even has some subtle striping on her legs. Her eyes are interesting as they are a vibrant green around the pupils and then change to a more hazel color on the outer iris.

Puna is feline leukemia negative, litter trained, spayed, up to date on shots, wormed and microchipped. Help us find her a forever home where she will be loved and cherished once again!
