Ferrets are exotic pets. They require special attention and safe places to play. To adopt these wonderful pets, a few requirements have to be met. You need to have a cage that is size appropriate - the cage should be approx 4 ft x 4 ft x 2 1/2 ft. They need room! Also make sure to either have plastic shelving or covered wire. If you place them in raw wire it will destroy their feet and ruin their ability to walk. Ferrets need to have time with you, they are not a cage pet. They require out of the cage time every day! The more time you can spend handling them, the better behaved they are and the more likely you can train them to do simple and fun tricks. Ferrets are very animated and never seem to grow up. Always kid like, they will spend time getting into things you never thought possible which means they require a ferret safe home. Also, if you are interested in adopting a ferret, keep in mind they have their own type of food. You want to make sure to feed them a diet that is specifically made for ferrets. They should not eat cat food or dog food and no table scraps. If you don't feed them their diet, it will lead to health problems that can not be fixed or reversed. Ferrets can be the most wonderful pets imaginable. They will wait for you every time you walk in the room to hold them, love them and will remain your loyal buddy for a lifetime.
