Rimrock Humane Society Receives Grant from Parks Foundation
The Rimrock Humane Society is proud to announce that they were one out
of eleven chosen from a field of 122 grant requesters to receive a $5,000
matching grant from the William and Charlotte Parks Foundation. This
grant is a 3 to 1 matching grant which means that the humane society
has been given the challenge to raise $15,000 by June 2005 or before
and the Parks Foundation will then cut the check for $5K.
"Our board is gladly accepting this challenge and we are confident
that we can raise the $15,000 by the deadline," stated Rimrock’s
President Sandy Church.
William and Charlotte Parks were long-time supporters of animal welfare
who lived in York, Maine. They established their foundation to provide
financial assistance to organizations working to reduce the suffering
and harm inflicted on animals by human beings and to help support studies
of the science and philosophy of the welfare and rights of animals.
A portion of their annual grants, which are highly sought after, are
earmarked for capital projects, including the construction or remodeling
of animal shelters operated by small organizations in areas where currently
there are inadequate animal care facilities.
"We feel extremely fortunate to be one of only eleven organizations
to be selected by the Parks Foundation for a capital grant this year,"
stated Church. "We are very proud that our work has been recognized
by a highly respected foundation that supports animal welfare organizations
not only throughout America but worldwide."
Recent recipients of Parks Foundation grants have included organizations
in Slovakia, Costa Rica, Israel, Egypt, Croatia and South Africa, as
well as New Mexico, Vermont, Massachusetts and North Dakota.
