IZZIE – Pitbull/Boxer X – Female – 2 Y
This beautiful girl came to us back in early November 2016 as a stray that was dropped off in the small town of Musselshell, MT. Hunters at a lodge there actually claimed they heard a vehicle, a door slam and there was Izzie and a little gray dog as well. We had an adoptive family that was looking to add a 2nd dog (their first dog was adopted from the RHS) so they decided to give Izzie a go. We will let them tell her story in their own words:
“Izzie came into our home with absolutely no sense of boundaries, or rules of any kind to keep her out of trouble. After 7 months of really hard work training her, she really has come a long way. Izzie has learned the basics, sitting patiently while waiting for her food, she is housebroke, crate trained, and is more than willing to please her people. She still has some things to work on, but she is eager to learn. Izzie really is the sweetest, silliest girl! She snores like a bear, makes funny noises when you rub her belly and her sweetness is something that has to be experienced, to say the least we fell in love with her immediately! Izzie is an active pup that loves to spend time in the great outdoors! She has spent many hours chasing me on my mountain bike! If you are an outdoor enthusiast this girl will be ideal!
Sadly, It is with the heaviest of hearts, we are unable to keep her as her and our other female dog, Maggie no longer get along. It is the dominant female thing and neither one will submit….we love her so and this has been such a difficult decision to make but we have to consider that there is a perfect fit for Izzy where she will feel safe and loved!
Izzie will do best with an active person — no small children as she is so exuberant around people her tail would knock them right over. Exercise and daily walks are crucial for Izzie’s success! She also does fine around cats. She truly is a darling and we know she will make someone very happy!”
Due to the fact that Izzie was fighting with the other female dog in the house, we felt it best she go live with our trainer to try and get down to the bottom of this behavior. It has been several weeks and so far as we can tell, it was strictly a hate relationship between these two dogs. Izzie has been introduced and living with other females and many other dogs and has done absolutely fine. There is not an ounce of aggression in this girl … we are thinking that if she does go into a home with other dogs, it should be a male just to be on the safe side. The trainer tells us that Izzie is an absolute clown – she has never met a dog with so much personality! We knew she was a Pitbull mix but she has so many Boxer traits that we have listed that as another breed as well. Personality and play habits are that of a Boxer for sure!
Izzie can be super active but also come into the house and be a couch potato. For some reason she likes to be up high, looking over her kingdom and our trainer has found Izzie up on her propane tank, sitting there taking in the world. She also found her one morning sitting on the seat of a road grader that was parked in the yard … looking around like she was the queen of the world. Izzie has excellent recall off leash and heels wonderfully off leash as well … better, actually, than on leash. Her happy personality is contagious … just look at that smile in the photos. Truly, Izzie wants her human to wear her as a scarf. She ADORES people and truly wants to learn and please her person. Izzie is NOT going to be the type of dog that you can leave in your backyard alone for 8 hours and expect her to be happy. She needs her people or something to do.
Izzie is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. We truly believe that this girl is going to swipe someone’s heart and be their best friend for life. Who could say no to that face?
