Name: Soap
Breed: Chocolate Lab/Australian Shepherd X
Sex: Male Age: 14 weeks
Owner Turn In Date: 07/22/10
Look at the color on this boy ... isn't he gorgeous? That partial blue eye really adds to his character! Soap's story is a fairly common one ... his family thought it would be fun to get two brother's from the same litter. As the two started to get a little older, the sibling rivalry escalated and they would fight amongst themselves. We never place siblings together from the same litter as this happens more often than not. Now that Soap has been removed from this situation, he is doing great with not only other dogs but with cats and kittens as well. His new foster mom is a groomer so he gets to go with her and meets all kinds of new critters and people - excellent socialization for a pup! Soap is incredibly smart and has already learned to sit using hand signals and a treat! He is crate trained and has a very easy going demeanor. Also, true to his lab heritage, Soap loves water and adores swimming ... whodathunkit? Now, as you would expect, he still is 100% puppy ... will chew on things if they are left out, might try to mouth your hand ... as you know, a puppy discovers the world through his mouth, particularly a lab puppy! Soap is also showing signs that he might be a great watch dog -- he is always very interested in what is going on around him and if he sees something he feels is suspicious, he will "Uummpff". Soap is currently up to date on shots and wormed ... he will be neutered, microchipped and have his dangling dew claws removed soon. You better get your application in soon, this dear heart will not be here long! |

Name: Monty
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog X
Sex: Male Age: 7 Months
Owner Turn In Date: 07/22/10
We have to honestly admit that when we walked away from meeting Monty (and his owner), we were impressed beyond compare! This boy's current owner is a college student and has such a busy schedule and small living area for him, she feels it is not fair that his exercise is limited and time spent with him is minimal. However, we must say that she truly HAS spent a lot of time with Monty training him and teaching him to be a super dog! What a resume ... he not only sits, stays, downs, and comes when called but also knows shake, roll over, and crawl! So much fun to train, Monty is highly intelligent but also one of those dogs that just wants to please .. all of the time! He is currently enrolled in a training class at Petsmart called Beginning Experiences and he is doing superb. Monty is great on a leash, has no food aggression, is crate trained and (of course) wonderfully house broke. So what are the greatest "loves" of his life ... well, #1 is his owner and then it would be giving kisses, ice cubes (inexpensive treats!), bones, his kong, stuffed toys and swimming! Is super with cats as he has been raised with them and does great with other dogs. Monty is a bit shy and timid at first meeting but quickly warms up ... he does like to play hard with his canine buddies once they have gotten to know each other. The only issue Monty has is he does not like being separated from his owner ... he will bark in his crate if left alone and will chew things if left to have free roam of the house. We are confident that Monty will learn that the loved ones in his life will come and go ... it would be awesome if his new home could either be with him for a portion of the day or Monty will at least need a canine friend to keep him company to help him work through this issue. Neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped ... we just cannot say enough good about this boy ... excellent prospect for agility, obedience or anything you would like him to do! Monty is one in a million! |

Name: Fez
Breed: Australian Shepherd/Collie X
Sex: Male Age: 2-1/2 Y
Owner Turn In Date: 07/22/10
To be quite honest, we do not know exactly what "breeds" Mr. Fez is but one thing is for sure, he is drop dead gorgeous! His coloring is exquisite and his fur so soft and silky. This poor fella got into some trouble at his home with a resident kitty so Fez is now looking for a home with no feline friends. Since the age of 5 mos., he was raised in a home with many other dogs of all ages and sizes. Currently being bossed around by a small Corgi ... (= Fez has great manners with people, enjoys walks on or off leash, likes to play with a frisbee and loves to catch a ball with his feet of all things! He is housebroke, not a chewer at all, uses a dog door and has been trained to respect an underground electronic fence. If allowed, he will sleep with you or on the couch, floor or recliner ... he is not picky! Neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped ... talk about leash candy! We just know there is a cat free home out there who would love to have this gorgeous creature gracing their sofa! (Video coming soon!) |

Name: Butterball
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog X
Sex: Male Age: 11 weeks
Stray
Date: 07/21/10
Our hearts just about stopped when we saw this face! Have you truly seen anything cuter? Butterball and his siblings were very lucky puppies ... they were found at the age of 6 weeks old; out in the middle of nowhere ... starved, dehydrated and covered with so many ticks, you couldn't even tell what color they were! Thank goodness a kind samaritan took the pups home to care for them and with some TLC and good veterinary care; they have been happily on the mend ever since. We decided to wait until they were good and strong before we sought forever homes for them. Butterball is the biggest pup of the bunch and probably the cuddliest - he is also what we like to call the "thinker" ... often when Honey & Junior are playing, Butterball will just be watching them and you can see the wheels turning! His house training has begun and he is now neutered, wormed, microchipped and up to date with his shots. Please watch his video as he and his siblings run around being silly and absolutely adorable! All of these pups are incredibly intelligent and will make someone a tremendous family dog. With a face like that ... who in the heck could resist? |

Name: Honey
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog X
Sex: Female Age: 11 weeks
Stray Date: 07/21/10
Awww ... look at those ears and that precious, sweet face ... if you have a soft spot for Heelers, we are sure you won't be able to resist Honey! Her and her siblings were very lucky puppies ... they were found at the age of 6 weeks old; out in the middle of nowhere ... starved, dehydrated and covered with so many ticks, you couldn't even tell what color they were! Thank goodness a kind samaritan took the pups home to care for them and with some TLC and good veterinary care; they have been happily on the mend ever since. We decided to wait until they were good and strong before we sought forever homes for them. Poor Honey has had to grow up with ALL brothers so she is a bit of a tomboy and can stick up for herself! She is sweet as pie and already knows how to sit on command for a treat! Her house training has begun and she is now spayed, wormed, microchipped and up to date with shots. Please watch her video as she and her siblings run around being silly and absolutely adorable! All of these pups are incredibly intelligent and will make someone a tremendous family dog. Honey lives up to her name and would love to sweeten up your life ... surley you have room in your heart and home for this girl?? |

Name: Junior
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog X
Sex: Male Age: 11 weeks
Stray Date: 07/21/10
Junior got his name because he was the runt of the litter but over the last few weeks, he has caught up to his sister, Honey. His markings are absolutely beautiful, so different than the other pups in the litter ... we love all of the polka dots and he has a shorter nose too! Junior and his siblings were very lucky puppies ... they were found at the age of 6 weeks old; out in the middle of nowhere ... starved, dehydrated and covered with so many ticks, you couldn't even tell what color they were! Thank goodness a kind samaritan took the pups home to care for them and with some TLC and good veterinary care; they have been happily on the mend ever since. We decided to wait until they were good and strong before we sought forever homes for them. Junior is his own man, although he loves attention, he does not seek it out as much as the other pups! Very content to go off and play on his own. Junior's house training has begun and he is now neutered, wormed, microchipped and up to date with shots. Please watch his video as he and his siblings run around being silly and absolutely adorable! All of these pups are incredibly intelligent and will make someone a tremendous family dog. Junior is so very endearing and we just know as he gets older ... those ears are gonna wanna stand up tall! (= |

Name: Bandit
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Sex: Male Age: 5 Y
Owner Turn In Date: 07/21/10
So, a Jack Russell Terrier that is a couch potato? Huh? Well, maybe not a complete "tater" but Bandit is all about being loved and cuddled and not so much about running around fetching anything. (= We think he looks a lot like the RCA dog! This sweet boy's elderly owner is moving into an apartment and cannot take Bandit with her so we have made a solemn promise that we will find the best home possible for this cutie. Bandit is used to having a nice big, fenced backyard to explore with access to the house if he wants. He lived with another female JRT but we already found her a home so he is lonely now without his friend around. He is a bit intimdated meeting dogs at first as he was beat up by another JRT a few years ago. Once the initial meeting is completed, he is fine with other dogs. Never been around cats and the kids in his neighborhood tease him as they walk by the fence so he currently barks at kids. Bandit is just a love sponge and, admittedly, could afford to lose a few pounds (ahem). He is great in the house and respects child proof gates if he is being sequestered in a room. Does alarm bark if he sees something he feels is a threat or when strangers walk in the house. Housebroke, neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped ... what he have here is an incredibly sweet boy who adores humans and a very worried owner concerned about where her "boy" is going to end up ... please help us make this a happy ending for both. |

Name: Axle
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier X
Sex: Male Age: 6 mos.
Owner Turn In Date: 04/26/10
Look at that smile! This is probably one of the happiest dogs we have ever met! He always has that big ol' grin on his face! Amazing he can smile at all since his family was going to shoot him because he knocked over their toddler. Axle grew up with children, other dogs and cats - he adores playing with his two foster dog brothers and enjoys the cats as well. Is super with children but may knock over young toddlers with his exuberance (obviously)! How can you not smile when this boy grabs his own leash and leads himself around! What a clown ... we tried to get some shots of him doing just that! His foster mom says he plays fetch really well and learns quickly although his attention span is rather short (typical puppy) - very smart and willing to please; what a fun pup to train! As you can see by his video, he has springs in his back feet and we are working on the jumping but you can't help but smile and enjoy this boy's zest for life ... it is contagious! Housebroke, crate trained, neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots ... who wouldn't want a little bit more happy in their lives? We highly recommend you read a wonderful handout about owning a breed like Axle written by a Pit Bull Rescuer - very informative and important reading! Check it out HERE! |
