Dogs for Adoption

If you are interested in any of these dogs, please be sure to read our Adoption Policies page and if you feel that you qualify, then you may print out an adoption application AND our terms of adoption - no adoption will be considered without BOTH forms! (These forms are in a PDF format - it requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you do not have Acrobat Reader you can download it here.) The Rimrock Humane Society takes serious inquiries only. Please fax the completed forms to (406)-323-1863 or mail to: Rimrock Humane Society, P.O. Box 834, Roundup, MT 59072.

The Rimrock Humane Society is a "virtual" shelter - all pets reside in loving foster homes and do not live in kennels or cages. Since we do not have a facility you can "visit", then please call us at 406.323.3687 or email wschurch@midrivers.com to make an appointment to see a pet if interested! Thanks for your cooperation.

One of our policies is a
fenced yard so please know that we will not make an exception unless it is a working dog in a ranch type setting. Thank you!

Name:  Hotch
Breed:  Labrador Retriever/Flat Coated Retriever X
Sex: Male                     Age:  1 Y
Owner Turn In             Date:  01/29/12

If you are a fan of the TV show, Crimimal Minds, you will know that this handsome fella was named after the main character, Aaron Hotchner who is also known as just "Hotch". Probably not much of a resemblance but we do have to say that both namesakes are VERY good looking! Not sure if the tv show character likes to fetch and play as much as our Hotch but we can forgive him that. Hotch came to live with his current family back at Easter time. His family was in the process of moving and they asked their good friends to watch this sweet boy for them while they settled in to their new digs. Once settled, they then decided that they didn't want him back so he stayed with his temporary family which has (3) other dogs and lots of kids. Now this family is experiencing a life change with a major move to Australia so they are having enough issues getting their own dogs moved to a new country, let alone trying to get a 4th through as well. So, that means Hotch is looking for a new home. Where to even start with this fabulous dog ... he is incredibly intelligent and learns so quickly, wants to please and is a joy to train. As busy as this current family is, they admit that Hotch still needs some training but can easily recognize what potential Hotch has. Incredibly loving, thinks he is a lap dog, so enjoys contact ... all he wants is to be with you or perhaps have you wear him as a scarf ... yeah ... that would work! He is not fond of being left alone and has been known to be destructive if left in the house to his own vices for long periods of time. Can be protective and will alarm back when a strange car pulls up to the house. Great with other dogs, both large and small and super with kids! The five year old son in the house and Hotch wrestle on the floor like brothers! He loves to fetch and adores playing tug of war - lots of energy and super playful nature. Yup, he is a Lab! Housebroke, neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped - there is no "Criminal Mind" here only a "beautiful mind" with a handsome exterior and endearing soul to match!

Name:  Zorro
Breed:  Border Collie/Husky X
Sex: Male                     Age:  1 Y
Owner Turn In             Date:  01/20/12

What a face! What a mask! What a coat! What a dog! We truly do not believe they come any more handsome than sweet Zorro. His coat is so luxurious, you just don't want to stop petting him! We adore his markings with the beautiful black mask and the one white ear ... truly a stunning canine! We adopted Zorro out about 6 months ago but his current family feels he would be happier in a home where the owner could channel his energy through something like agility or fly ball - he is a true athlete! Loves playing with other dogs his size but likes to "herd" smaller dogs and cats. He is not malicious, just has a huge "work" ethic - he comes by it honestly! Not a hyper dog, in fact our original foster home called him "an easy going guy". If you have him out of a fenced enclosure, he will stay with you if you keep him stimulated but ... if boredom sets in, the nose is to the ground and the husky "running gene" comes out in him. Tremendously intelligent dog that truly just wants to please ... what a great training prospect! Travels well in the vehicle, housebroke, crate trained, neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. His coat is easily maintained with good brushing and has not been found to shed overly much. We believe Zorro to be an incredibly unique fella both inside and out - with the right owner, he is going to make someone a fabulous companion! Need a running partner or a hiking buddy? Look no further!

Name:  Griffin
Breed:  Corgi X
ADOPTED!
Sex: Male                     Age:  2 Y
Owner Turn In            Date:  10/19/11

Adorable right? Such a happy smile and look at those ears ... kind of like airplane wings (only much softer and oh so cute)! So this cutie patootie came into our program with the name of "Dipstick" ... REALLY? Yeah, we didn't think so either and bless our foster home, they re-named him Griffin and he is responding to the new name just fine. This awesome fella was living with a gentleman who had him since January ... Griffin's original owners had dropped him off with this man to "babysit" and never came back for him. Unfortunately, with two other dogs that he was having a hard enough time caring for; this very nice man could not keep Griffin any longer. This boy is cuter than a bug and sweeter than a Georgia peach! Loves to cuddle, is comfortable hopping up on the bed and has been caught on the couch a few times. So very
tender hearted -- will drop to the ground if you raise your voice. Griffin is a little shy at first and a little nervous around new situations. However, he acclimated quickly to his foster home, the new house and the craziness that is their life! Does like to jump up on people (the old owner used to encourage the "hugging" thing) but the foster home is working on that. Griffin has not chased a ball yet but he likes to chase his canine lab brother when he is retrieving the ball. Has not had any accidents in the house, loves to be outdoors, is not destructive and adores being close to his human but isn't obnoxious about it. Is so super with the young little boy in the house .. has tons of patience with him! Gets along with the kitties in the home but may give chase if he has the opportunity - the cats in the foster home do not run but this boy is not malicious in any way so do not believe he would hurt a kitty. Griffin's fur is extra, super soft and his coloring is beautiful! Loves, loves, loves to go in the car - he'll dance around it when it's parked and if there is a door open, he'll get in and doesn't want to get out. Griffin came to us with some hair missing off of the tip of his tail ... the old owner said that he would chew on it. That is looking better and we believe it may have been a food allergy of some kind ... now that he is on a higher quality food, it looks like that issue is clearing up. Neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped ... weighing in at only 40 lbs., Griffin is the perfect, medium sized, great little companion dog! Kind of like a Corgi only with longer legs! :)
